Horizontal Plank Style Barn Door

Our Horizontal Plank Style Barn Door

Scottsdale, Arizona June 18, 2014 5:40 P.M.

We  designed and manufactured this horizontal plank style barn door specifically for an "Old vs. New" design theme in a Paradise Valley, Arizona estate home. The interior space is beautifully appointed with "Old" family heirloom furniture pieces and wool rugs which adorn the space with traditional tones of blues, reds, and cremes. heading in the other direction of "New" the flooring was done in a porcelain wood (style) planked floor in a chocolate brown and creme palomino pattern. The "New" also speaks to you from the creme limestone tiles, cleanly set in a brick stacked pattern on the fireplace and set into the front entry with the palomino floor. When we were commissioned to design and build a barn door (above) for this space we took careful note to tie the "Old and New" themes together. The "Old" was expressed through the heavily distressed barn board planks we chose to build the door. The horizontal placement of the planks was purposeful to allow for very clean, straight forward lines to coordinate with the way the limestone was set on the fireplace adjacent to the barn door. When we designed the sliding barn door hardware system we used iron straps to support the 4" trolley wheels, but span the full length of the eight foot door. Again, this element was used to create another clean, linear feel from the door.
Upon completion of installation, our barn door blended into the space and looks like it has been there for 100 years.

May 2014 Mid-Town Scottsdale, Arizona Patio Home. Our Three Rail Planked Style Traditional Barn Door was the perfect choice to add functionality to the small nook off of the main living area. This previously undefined space is now a great reading area or small home office.

December 2013 Phoenix, Arizona. Our 3 Rail Planked Barn Door was the perfect choice for this hall guest bathroom. The original door swung into the bathroom taking up wall space and making the small guest bath feel very crowded. With the installation of one of our barn doors this bathroom immediately felt bigger and more open. We wrapped the entire door casing with barn board planks for a bold statement and added our "Classic Wheel" to one of our Sliding Barn Door Hardware Kits (from $199) "finished in a satin nickel finish"

February 2014 A pair of our barn doors installed between a formal living room and family room. This active family needed privacy from their teenage children and their friends watching television in the family room directly adjacent to their formal living room, but did not want to consume valuable wall space by installing a traditional pair of doors. We installed this pair of 36" wide by 7 feet tall barn doors and everyone is happy, happy, happy!
