A Perfect solution for Bedroom to Bath

One of our most popular Barn Door applications is the opening between the Master Bedroom and Master Bathroom. Traditional doors just don't work in this area as if the door swung in it would most likely consume valuable bathroom wall space and if the door swung out into the bedroom it would take up wall space that is meant to be used for a piece of furniture. Not to mention the Lack of Privacy by not having a door on the master bath entrance. Does this all sound too familiar? Give us a call, we are located in the Scottsdale Air-Park and would love to hear from you. www.thebarndoorstore.com

Equestrian Manor Barn Doors

Hand Made in Scottsdale, AZ thebarndoorstore.com
Our most recent barn door build and installation brought us to an adobe Spanish style home in the North Scottsdale private community of Equestrian Manor. For this application the homeowner wanted to have the ability to close off the east wing of her home which is adjacent to the formal living room. She expressed to us during our initial meeting that she wanted the flexibility to close off the east hallway which led to her children's bedrooms to create privacy for the living room. The doors we built (shown to the left) were very traditional sliding barn doors. The planks had a tremendous amount of distressing and age marks which fit right in with the hand made Spanish style furniture and appointments throughout the home. We finished the doors with a hand rubbed oil based stain in a rich mahogany tone, again coordinating with the Spanish furniture and decor'. To the right of the door, on your right is an adobe beehive fireplace which created space limitations for the right hand barn door to fully slide open and away from the doorway. Because of the space limitation from the fireplace, we created a bypass sliding barn door hardware track which allows the doors to pass over each other and stowed to the left of the opening. How to calculate what size barn door you need.

In the document to the left we have illustrated the correct way to figure out what size barn door you will need to properly cover your doorway opening. If your doorway has door casing (trim) around the perimeter and you want your barn door to cover the casing when it is closed, measure the width from the outer edges of the casing. We suggest, as stated in the illustration, that 2 inches is added to the opening width and height when calculating what size barn door you will need. Using this method, you will maximize privacy and sound insulation from one room to the other when the barn door is closed. In order to properly "park" (fully open) your barn door, you must have wall space on either side of the opening that at least equals the width of the barn door. If you have any questions in figuring what size barn door you need, feel free to contact us at info@thebarndoorstore.com. We are located in Scottsdale, AZ and would be happy to visit your home for a measurement and estimate.

A loft at the Summit in Copper Square

We just installed this pair of horizontal planked, custom barn doors in a loft at The Summit in Copper Square. In keeping with the contemporary, industrial design theme of the loft we added polished steel trim to the perimeter of the doors, front and back. We also kept the sliding barn door hardware wheels and arms in the natural steel finish which tied in perfectly with the exposed duct work throughout the loft. The warmth of wood with a hint of metal

Chad King (left) applying a medium polished steel trim to these horizontal planked Barn Doors we custom made for a downtown Phoenix loft. This pair will be installed over an opening between a den and kitchen in the loft. The loft's style is a mix of wood tones and industrial metal accents complete with exposed duct work which was our inspiration for the polished steel trim on the doors. We manufacture 8 standard barn door styles, but welcome the opportunity for you to bring us your custom barn door inspirations. Our showroom is located in the Scottsdale Air-Park at the cross roads of Hayden and Raintree. Feel free to visit us on-line at www.thebarndoorstore.com
