Horizontal Plank Style Barn Door

Our Horizontal Plank Style Barn Door

Scottsdale, Arizona June 18, 2014 5:40 P.M.

We  designed and manufactured this horizontal plank style barn door specifically for an "Old vs. New" design theme in a Paradise Valley, Arizona estate home. The interior space is beautifully appointed with "Old" family heirloom furniture pieces and wool rugs which adorn the space with traditional tones of blues, reds, and cremes. heading in the other direction of "New" the flooring was done in a porcelain wood (style) planked floor in a chocolate brown and creme palomino pattern. The "New" also speaks to you from the creme limestone tiles, cleanly set in a brick stacked pattern on the fireplace and set into the front entry with the palomino floor. When we were commissioned to design and build a barn door (above) for this space we took careful note to tie the "Old and New" themes together. The "Old" was expressed through the heavily distressed barn board planks we chose to build the door. The horizontal placement of the planks was purposeful to allow for very clean, straight forward lines to coordinate with the way the limestone was set on the fireplace adjacent to the barn door. When we designed the sliding barn door hardware system we used iron straps to support the 4" trolley wheels, but span the full length of the eight foot door. Again, this element was used to create another clean, linear feel from the door.
Upon completion of installation, our barn door blended into the space and looks like it has been there for 100 years.
